On large displays the ArtPro self-running demo may need more memory than you have installed. (It will give a proper warning if it does.) You can either turn on Virtual Memory (in the Memory Control Panel), or run the demo on a smaller display.
To really see the speed of vectorization, you have to copy the demo to the hard disk. When you run the demo from the CD, vectorization is slowed down by the CD drive. Nominal time for vectorization of the 5.4 MB TIFF file on a Macintosh Quadra 840AV 20/500 is: 42.7s, on a Power Macintosh 8100/80 8/80: 17.5s.
The demo also runs on 68k-based Macintosh computers with floating-point math coprocessor.
About ArtPro:
ArtPro is a high-end program for the prepress of labels, packaging and line art. It brings the functionality and efficiency of high-end systems to the Macintosh platform.
ArtPro vectorizes scanned line art without any quality loss and offers very efficient tools for cleaning this line art. It is capable of converting any PostScript file to its native format, allowing unlimited editing of these files.
ArtPro provides tools for creating additional line art, boxes, text and bar codes. Contones can be positioned and masked, all kinds of vignettes added.
Very powerful interactive trapping tools are built in, as well as fully automatic (table-driven) trapping. PostScript output is optimized for each specific imagesetter and includes step-and-repeat and shrink-and-expand functions.
Main features of ArtPro 2.0 are:
• Vectorization of scanned line art without quality loss
• Extensive tool set for cleaning complex, scanned line art
• Editing of imported PostScript files
• Advanced trapping functions, including fully automatic trapping
• PostScript output tuned for each specific imagesetter
The Power Macintosh version of ArtPro is released.
